Forbes: Slipknot’s Clown Talks New Album + Fall Tour And The Launch Of His Cannabis Line: Clown Cannabis

Read on Forbes

In the world of modern metal, Slipknot is unquestionably the genre’s most popularized band. With several number one charting records, including their last, We Are Not Your Kind, the Knot has grown to become the music industry’s heaviest mainstream act to date. In fact a phrase that’s commonly attributed to the band is “Slipknot brought blast beats to the mainstream,”and this couldn’t be more true. And speaking of which, a primary proponent of this feat was the band’s longtime drummer, Joey Jordison, who passed away unexpectedly last week. Despite Joey parting ways with the band in 2013, his renown influence and legacy has remained with Slipknot and their fans over the last two decades, and it will seemingly never go away.

Nevertheless, Slipknot’s audience has only steadily grown within their last two album cycles. Apart from We Are Not Your Kind’s charting success, the album just so happens to be the nine’s best album in years, and ultimately it has fans eagerly awaiting the possibilities for their next record. Rumors have been circulating about the recording and writing process for this follow up album, but little is known outside of the fact it’s in production.

However, going beyond simply music, Slipknot are simultaneously a culture as they are a metal band. From curating and hosting some of the worlds’ most elaborate metal festivals known as Knotfest, Slipknot has time and again proved the dedication and commitment they have to their fanbase and alternative culture. In keeping with that theme, Slipknot even launched their own whiskey in 2019, and more recently the band’s own Shawn Crahan (a.k.a. Clown) saw the debut of his own cannabis line, Clown Cannabis. Both Slipknot products have seen tremendous success, with the whiskey seeing critical praise and Clown Cannabis completely selling out.
